off-island state of mind

home is an island.

beckoning

a few weeks ago - a former job prospect incited interest in a position in okinawa. again, i was forced to weigh my options and entertain the idea of how i would drive my career. there, i would have been managing projects directly associated with the migration of the marines to guam. it would mean, once again, dragging my family and personal effects across the ocean. after many weeks of contemplating the decision, i am certain the decision to pass it up was the right one. while i am more adaptable than most and can hold my own anywhere on this planet, being without any social structure whatsoever would be my inevitable demise. without friends or family to keep us grounded, our chances of survival are slim.

mimi from guam

  • about me
*off-island* refers to the state of being away from the island of guam. you can now follow my spin-off food blog, off-is land influence food refelections

from my lush homeland to the city by the bay and into the far reaches of the suburbs, i've made my home twice. it was fun in my 20's and even better in my 30's. documenting it all makes me feel important (to myself). here you'll find my multi-tasking adventures with food and the fashionable, my love affair with my dvr, an occasional moment of profound thought, a lot of useless yet laughable ranting, and lately stuff about my life in constant re-arrangement. i'm only fab-ulous because it's in my name.
